As a part of this year’s Equality Campaign by Nike, Position Sports was on hand in Chicago highlighting iconic basketball Coach Dorothy Gaters. Sixteen years ago, Coach Gaters started the MLK Dream Classic to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and feature the upcoming talent of high school basketball players.

As part of their experience, teams participated in three specific activations in alignment with MLK values: the Captains Breakfast, the Day of Service Clinic and the Other Side Of The Game.

- At the Captains Breakfast, individuals from the participating teams were honored as the next generation to be catalysts for change in their communities.

- Following the breakfast, the team captains served as leaders for 100 students from the Urban Initiatives group who participated in an interactive basketball clinic, as a means to grow the game and share their knowledge.

- The final piece was a special workshop at Nike Chicago to demonstrate that the sport has the power to be a spark for change. Nike Sportswear leaders introduced the students to “The Other Side Of The Game” - showcasing the influence of history in their products.

As MLK said, “life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?”
